On September 9th, 2020, in the midst of the pandemic's stagnating quarantine, California wildfires had so filled the skies with smoke that we woke to orange sunshine. The apocalypse had come... but I had recently purchased a bicycle, and I took it out that morning, slowly cruising the deserted streets. In the weeks after, the skies cleared and life settled into the new normal. But inspired by that day, where the intensely weird sunlight set an eerie cast across the world, I have ever since been striking out on my bicycle and capturing the Silicon Valley Fairy Tale in a rainbow of distorted color.
